In short, Hussmann provides refrigeration to keep foods fresh from farm to fork.
How do I easily track and monitor my fleet, reduce operating costs, improve customer service, get a full days work from all my technicians, and eliminate personal use of trucks and equipment?
Hussmann wanted an advanced, real-time GPS tracking and management solution that matched the performance of its highly trained field-service technicians and service truck fleet.
According to Keith Funk, Hussmann’s president, “We needed to regain control over our people and our vehicles. The solution needed to be simple and fast. Our bottom-line was being affected.” He goes on to add, “We have about 60 to 80 service vehicles that our employees drive home each night, but are prohibited from using after-hours. Unfortunately, we found that at the end of the day, company trucks were being used for personal use and for side-jobs.” Drivers leaving work early tainted the company’s solid reputation as a customer service-oriented organization. Unauthorized after-hours use of company vehicles created not only a huge liability risk, but affected the bottom-line by increasing operating and maintenance costs.
Hussman managed its everyday operations using a chalkboard. Hussman’s customers demanded a 21st century advanced solution equal to the challenge. Their ageless but outdated tracking system was no longer appropriate for a modern-day service truck fleet.
According to Keith Funk, “We requested test units from Telogis and were impressed by the results. The OnTrack GPS fleet tracking and management solution by Telogis blew all the other products we tested away.”
The OnTrack system was installed on Hussmann’s service trucks. OnTrack finally gave Hussmann the power and flexibility to regain the control they needed. The real time and reliable metrics provided by OnTrack offered a comprehensive and bird’s eye view of their fleet’s activities.
Hussman was now able to determine the location of all their service fleet on demand. They experienced increasing productivity and profits as the result of a major drop in service fleet maintenance, operating, and overtime costs. Hussmann is free to focus once again on its core strength: customer satisfaction.
